Fair Trade School

The concept of Fair Trade School was initiated from the UK, and it has been implemented in many countries, including Spain, Australia, New Zealand and Germany. A Fair Trade School is one that has made a commitment to supporting and advocating Fair Trade in campus and community.  School procurement policies are established to ensure that Fair Trade products are available and used in the campus.

There are over 2,000 Fairtrade Schools in the UK, while Fairtrade University and College have also been established in the UK and Canada.

Schools in Hong Kong should catch up with the international trend and become a Fair Trade School. Students can hence gain a deeper understanding of global issues and Fair Trade, and make the world into a better place by undertaking responsibilities as global citizens.

The content of Fair Trade is coherent with the regular curriculum of subjects, such as Liberal Studies, Humanities, Geography, Economics and Other Learning Experience.
